Full Version: SaT can corrupt user.ini file?

I've been having issues with stars freezing. They keep telling me the user.ini file is corrupted and I need to re-install etc. After I do that and it works, I run SaT and the issue starts up again with the same problem. Sat is the only 3rd party tool I'm running with Stars - Is it possible for it to corrupt the .ini file? Here's is what Stars write;

We are sorry to hear that the issue occur again.

We have checked the log files provided and can see that your user.ini is corrupted again therefore please delete it.

Once you have done please try to play on the tables without using 3rd party tools.

If the issue reoccur without 3rd party tools, please send us new log files.

Please let us know your findings.

We are waiting for your reply.

SaT doesn't touch any files outside of its own directory. You can verify this with a disk monitoring program such as Process Monitor:

Okay thanks. Appears to be a conflict with Windows10 and Pokerstars. Remedy for now is to run Pokerstars in Windows7 / previous version mode (which you can do by right clicking on the icon).

Is that confirmed by Stars? Did they tell you their client messes up the user.ini under Windows 10?

So with SaT turned off, the file is still corrupted?

And did you try the 888 mouse fix from the other thread?

The 888 thread: I did have the issue again today but it's been infrequent since I applied those settings re the pop-ups. It's just when the pop-up appears (for a new tourney or change of table) SaT will spazz out sometimes. But I shortcut close the program and restart it and it's fine. So it's manageable.

This was the message I got from Stars which fixed the issue for me (I can't say for sure the effect of the .ini file...):

As the Windows 10 is new system it may be that users can expecting all kind of issues related to lack of it's optimization at this early stage.

To try to run PokerStars like on previous Window versions, we kindly ask you to first try to run our software using the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter of in Windows 10. This will help you use the settings of your previous OS (8.1 or 7) to run PokerStars.

To run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter, locate the PokerStars shortcut and right-click the program's icon and select Troubleshoot compatibility.

The Program Compatibility Troubleshooter can fix problems that can't be detected or fixed by the Program Compatibility Assistant. Please try running it in compatibility with the precious Operating System you were using.

No I don't mean changing the settings.

I created a new test version which I hope fixes the problem altogether. Please see the last post in the thread:
