Hello there

When I open Visualize Grid on SAT my slots seems to be line up together

https://prnt.sc/jieqie

But on pratice the tables get a little space between them

https://prnt.sc/jieqxc

With StarsHelper table placing, I get this result with is the one I want

https://prnt.sc/jies2v

When I did the SAT layout I used the table size that StarsHelper makes, but when I press START on SAT the tables get smaller than it should, creating that space.

I use a ultrawide monitor and this table size is the one that fits perfectly without overlap.

Thank you
Ok. So the issue is with Win10. On Windows10, Microsoft now makes the resizing borders of the windows invisible, but they are still there. See this post for full detail:

So SaT is actually doing things correctly. As said in that post, you can verify yourself using the built-in Windows feature:

(07-23-2016, 01:54 PM)SaT_Admin Wrote: [ -> ]You can further confirm that these gaps exist even without SaT. Simply open a few windows, any windows, and then, right click an empty space on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Then click "Show windows side-by-side". You will see that even when Windows itself tiles its windows, it also shows those gaps.

I'm not sure what StarsHelper is doing. My guess is that they are actually creating some overlap. Maybe you can test it and let me know so we can figure out what StarsHelper is doing. So, if you look at your SaT screenshot:
https://prnt.sc/jieqxc
You can see on the far left table, there is a gap between the table and the edge of the screen. That gap exists because of the draggable resizing border on the left side of the table. If you hover over that with your mouse, you should get the dragging mouse cursor and be able to resize the table. Stars helper doesnt have that, so my guess is that they have actually shifted the table outside of the left of the screen. So then if you hover your mouse inbetween slots 1 and 2, in SaT you should be able to get the draggable border to resize BOTH the left and right tables. With Stars helper what do you get?

Thank you for the quick reply.

So, I did some testing. That "invisible border" can be found on StarsHelper too

https://prnt.sc/jifklu
http://prntscr.com/jifl7b

But it seems to me that StarsHelper ignores it and somehow it manages to tie the tables.

Let me know if I can do something to help, it would be really great to have SAT doing the same thing as StarsHelper.
Right, even with StarsHelper, those resizing borders do still exist. I think that StarsHelper just simply overlaps one table over the other a little bit in order to hide the border so that there is no visible gap.

Can you try this? So with SaT, if you hover over the gap, you should get the resizing border for BOTH tables next to each other, and you should be able to resize BOTH tables if you want to.

With StarsHelper, my guess is that when you hover in between both tables, yes you'll get the resizing border, but only for ONE table. And you wouldn't be able to resize the other one because that table's border would be underneath. Can you confirm?

There is no gab between the tables and I can resize any table even the one closer together.
I just left click on the table and them I can resize, when I put my mouse between the tables it resizes the one that has action (clicked before)

I sent them an email asking about it and a curious consumer, if I get any response I get back to you.

Right this is what I meant. So when you try to put your mouse between the table, you can only resize one table, not the other. This is because what StarsHelper must be doing is actually creating some minor overlap, where the resizing border is actually underneath the other table. I may be able to replicate that as well. I'm just not sure if thats the best thing to do..

I played around with the slots and managed to make a layout without overlap.

I know it is not a major thing but I think it would be great to have such a option on the software, maybe a box on the advanced option tab Big Grin

But thanks for the help!

So, one more thing. On advanced options when selecting "Highlight active (focused) table" the red square gets the invisible border as well, pretty annoying.

Yes I understand. I am considering it. Glad you found a solution

You should be able to avoid this if you use this extra advanced option in your layout config file:

Code:
[settings]
highlight_border_inside=1
...
