I just tested it and it worked for me. However, I think the problem you are having is related to you using the SAT advanced option to "Activate/focus table under mouse"
But even when I turned that setting on, it still worked for me. When I right click on a player, the color selection pops up. And my mouse is still underneath that popup. But if I move my mouse to the left over the table instead, then the SAT setting triggers and focuses the table itself again.
How are you trying to assign a color? By right clicking? Or by some other method?

I decided that maybe it's in the party poker application. And reinstalled and it worked
