I was going to give the trial a go next week some time. Before I get going, is there a setting whereby a table can be moved from the stack once I reach the bubble of a sng?
Not automatically. You would use a hotkey to "Move table to Next slot" which would move the table out of the stack and into the next available gridslot. You could then use "Keep table in grid" hotkey to lock the table in the grid so that it will never return to the stack until you toggle that off.
